Princeton SCEA Attracts 3547 Applicants for 2016 Class

The speculation begins as to how many applicants will Princeton admit early this year.

The number of legacies in 2015 class is 12.3% or 160 students. Assuming a yield rate of 80% this means that Princeton admitted 200 legacy students.
The number of athletes in 2015 class is estimated to be about 180 = 36 teams with about 5 per team. The yield rate for recruited athletes is very high - about 93% so about 195 athletes are offered admissions. Assuming that all athletes go early and 90% of legacies go early, the two groups should account for about 375 SCEA admits.

Princeton had a 32% admit rate for 1815 ED applicants in 2008, the last year when Princeton has early applicants.

We predict that Princeton will admit 19% of its early applicants this year or 675 students or slightly more than half the entering class of 1310. This means that other than legacies and athletes the admit rate will be 300/2897= 10.4%, slightly better than last year's total admit rate of 8.4%. This rate would be higher than RD admits of 7.8% due to higher quality of early applicants and the inclusion of other hooked applicants such as URMs and scholar stars.
